Cleaning Your Above-Ground Pool
- Skim the surface: Use a skimmer net to remove any leaves, bugs, and other debris from the surface of the water.
- Brush the walls and floor: Use a pool brush to scrub the walls and floor of the pool to remove any algae or dirt buildup.
- Vacuum the pool: Use a pool vacuum to remove any debris that has sunk to the bottom of the pool. You can attach the vacuum to your pool's filter system or use a manual vacuum.
- Check and adjust chemical levels: Test the water using a pool test kit and adjust the chemical levels as needed. The chemical levels that need to be monitored include pH, chlorine, alkalinity, and calcium hardness.
- Clean the filter: Check and clean the pool filter regularly to ensure that it is working efficiently. You can use a backwash method or clean it with a hose or filter cleaner.
- Shock the pool: If necessary, add a shock treatment to the pool to kill any bacteria or algae that may be growing.
- Keep the water level consistent: Maintain the water level of the pool by adding water as needed.
